REMOTE ACCESS: Dial-Up Access

Target: Customers who require dial-up access to their network.

While dial-up remote access is still commonly used as a remote access solution, it is quickly becoming obsolete due to the increasing reliability, availability, and cost benefit of Virtual Private Networking (VPN).

While we do not typically recommend dial-up as a primary remote access solution, we will gladly support your company's requirements for dial-up as needed. We may also recommend a dial-up solution as a back-up to your VPN if your company has heavy remote access usage requirements.

Cost benefits of VPN solutions are enormous! Because it uses the public internet, with a VPN, you can connect to anywhere in the world and pay no long-distance charges!

Dial-up access solutions include the following:
  • Modems or modem pools
  • Remote Access Server (RAS) and RAS cards
A modem pool solution tends to be more of a bootleg approach, with modems being added as new connections are required. A Remote Access Server, on the other hand, can be purchase from a number of 3rd-party manufacturers, and has more standard, user-friendly software and scalability.

To get your dial-up access connection(s) running, Nevtec will purchase, install, configure and test your modems or RAS equipment, and train you on connecting to the network.
